What does it mean to be tech-savvy? What does it mean to be competent in ICTs?

Am I tech-savvy? Who and what actually defines that?

 

I own an iMac, a MacBook, an iPad, an iPhone 6, an iPod, and an Apple Watch. I am online every single day – from social media, to university study, right down to checking the weather and paying bills. Isn’t everybody?

I guess that is what makes this course and others like it so important. This IS the way that the world is headed. Our kids need to know this stuff. They need to know what ICT is, how it works, and how they can use it to better improve themselves.

I would almost go as far to say that every single employment opportunity in the future will require the knowledge and use of some sort of ICT component. This is why it’s so important for teachers (and future teachers) to know, understand, appreciate and be able to impart on their students ‘technology competence.
